Certification: Coastal Passage Making- add to this US Sailing or ASA 106
Prerequisites: Basic Keelboat, Basic Cruising, Bareboat Cruising, Coastal Navigation

Course Structure

This course is a 5 day course, starting on Monday and finishing on Saturday. Saturday evening is spent ashore.

CPM challenges those students who have taken Basic Keelboat, Bareboat Cruising, CoNav or have the equivalent qualifications. Everything you learned from the aforementioned courses is put to use along with new skills you master through this course. Some of these skills include night time approaches to anchorages, night time man overboards, full on navigation, lights at night, standing watches, proper customs and immigration procedures, and all of the safety items one must know when sailing out of sight of land. Along with your ongoing studies we will visit Iles des Saintes and Dominica.

Tuition

The group tuition rate is $2,495 per person (maximum 4 students). Tuition includes the Coastal Passage Making text, first and last night hotel (shared accommodations in a two bedroom villa with private bedroom and bathroom and a shared kitchen); cruising permit, provisioning for 5 days (5 breakfasts; 4 lunches; 2 dinners; snacks and starter kit); USSA Coastal Passage Making certification fee. Not included in the tuition are drinking water and other beverages, ice, port clearing fees, 3 dinners ashore, Antigua departure tax, instructor's gratuity.

A minimum deposit of 50% of total package is due at the time of the booking. Balance is due 60 days prior to the course start date.

Cancellation/Change Policy:
All cancellations must be received in writing. A $200 per person processing fee is charged on all cancellations. No refunds or transfers allowed for defaults, and cancellations less than 60 days prior to start date of the course.

Basic Cruising and Bareboat Cruising (USSA) or Basic Coastal Cruising (ASA 103) and Bareboat Charter (ASA 104) certification available

Crew with their basic keelboat certification or with small boat sailing experience can incorporate their bareboat certification course into the week of sailing for tuition of $95. Tuition supplement includes:

  • Bareboat Cruising/Bareboat Charter text
  • Bareboat Cruising/Bareboat Charter certification exam
  • Professional instructor

Not included:

  • Air fare to Antigua
  • Two meals and other activities ashore
  • Additional beverages and ice
  • Airport departure tax
  • Airport transfers
