British Virgin Islands New Years Flotilla

DEC 27th
Flotilla guests arrive. Check into the hotel and enjoy the evening at the Welcome Party, getting acquainted with your crewmates for the week. |
DEC 28th
We will have the opportunity to spend the morning doing a little exploring or getting last minute items before boarding the provisioned boats at noon. Setting sail from Nanny Cay Marina we will make our way to Cooper Island with a series of tacks up the Sir Francis Drake Channel. We'll pick up a mooring ball in Manchioneel Bay. You'll have the opportunity to dinghy out to Cistern Point for some excellent snorkeling. Ashore, you'll find a beach lined with palm trees attached to the quaint Cooper Island Beach Club. A terrific spot for a cocktail, while watching the sun set over the Sir Francis Drake Channel.

Snorkeling the Baths, Virgin Gorda

DEC 29th
Beating up to the famed Baths on Virgin Gorda, you'll have the have the morning to explore these wonders by foot, hiking over, around and under enormous granite formations. Snorkeling here is also a must before we have a leisurely run down to Trellis Bay. After the anchor is down, you can visit the numerous shoreside haunts and we won't want to miss the rollicking show put on by the Last Resort's "singing chef"! |
DEC 30th
We will have an early start from Trellis Bay to North (Gorda) Sound, Virgin Gorda. Beating up the Sir Francis Drake Channel to the Dog Islands for a snorkel and lunch before continuing on to North Sound. The Sound is completely surrounded by various islands-the perfect place to explore in your dinghy, namely the Bitter End Resort, Eustasia Sound and Biras Creek.

Loblolly Bay, Anegada

DEC 31st
New Year's Eve! A two hour beam reach puts you into Setting Point, Anegada. We will take a 15 minute land tour over this coral reef island to Loblolly Bay where you are sure to find crystal clear waters and miles of fine white sand beach. Snorkel Loblolly Bay and we'll have dinner ashore, bringing in the New Year at the Anegada Reef Hotel. |
JAN 1st
After bringing in the New Year in a fashion you will not soon forget, we will leave Anegada and reach across to Marina Cay, home of the historical Pusser's and subject of Robb White's book "Our Virgin Island". Marina Cay is nestled behind a reef and you'll find good snorkeling here.

Cane Garden Bay, Tortola

JAN 2nd
We'll lazily run down the beach laden north coast of Tortola, through the Camanoe and Guana Passages, stopping at Monkey Point on Guana Island for lunch and a snorkel. We'll continue on through the afternoon, paralleling the north coast into Cane Garden Bay, where we'll anchor for the night. If you're thinking of a white sandy, crescent beach dotted with palm trees and verdant, green hills rolling down towards the shore, then you're thinking correctly. There is an ample supply of watering holes and restaurants to visit as you watch the sun set over St. Thomas. |

JAN 3rd
This day we'll run down the west end of Tortola and head up through the Thatch Cut, tacking our way to Norman Island and picking up a mooring ball in the Bight. Watch the sun set over St. John from the boat after snorkeling the Caves. Last but not least, a visit to the infamous "Willie Thornton", a big, black schooner, turned floating bar. Everyone has a story about the "Willie T", you will have your own when it's over!

It's a quick reach in the morning across the Sir Francis Drake Channel from Norman Island back to Nanny Cay. |

Yachts
There will be several different models of yachts used on this Flotilla including a Beneteau 463, 46 feet, 3 cabins/3heads.
Bareboat Cruising Certification available
Crew with their basic keelboat certification or with small boat sailing experience can incorporate their bareboat cruising certification course into the week of sailing. The sailing school option will be offered in conjunction with the trip for an additional tuition of $95. Tuition supplement includes:
- Bareboat Cruising texts and logbook
- Bareboat Cruising certification exams
- Professional instructor
Students achieving the Bareboat Cruising Certificate will be certified to bareboat charter.
